FNS Partner Event again a great success!

On Wednesday, November 20, 6G Future Network Services hosted its second major partner event of 2024 at the Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht. Over 160 participants from all FNS partners came together to explore 6G-focused inspiration and innovation throughout the day.

The event provided a platform for FNS partners to connect, share insights, stay updated on the program’s progress, and engage in in-depth discussions during breakout sessions. The agenda included presentations, collaborative workshops, and plenty of networking opportunities. Additionally, more than 30 PhD students presented research posters during the breaks.

Danny Frietman opened the event with a warm welcome and an overview of the day’s activities. This was followed by Peter Rake’s interactive session, where he shared the latest updates and achievements of the FNS program, incorporating props provided by the railway museum. An engaging Q&A session with program line leads followed, offering participants an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the progress of the four program lines. Also inspiring were the pitches by the four start-ups which had all received a voucher of 25k!

Geerd Kakes and Erik Brouwer then spoke about the integration of business value management into the FNS program’s goals and vision, while Sharon Struijcken provided a concise update on program finances and key takeaways, wrapping up the opening plenary.

The day’s first round of breakout sessions featured discussions on integrated sensing and communication, standardization, and the 6G testbed. After a short break, which included another opportunity to view the PhD students’ presentations, the second round of breakouts addressed topics like spin-offs and startups, the Human Capital Agenda, and Cloud & 6G.

To close the day, Michael Meyer delivered a plenary session exploring international partnerships and their critical role in driving FNS innovation. Paul Wijngaard followed with a session on strategies for leveraging global collaboration to achieve program objectives.

The event concluded with a reflection on the day’s discussions, outlining next steps, and casual networking over drinks. Participants connected with peers, fostering ideas and collaborations for the future.

We’re excited to continue developing 6G together and look forward to the next FNS Partner Event in May 2025!
