Jos Berière speaker at the 5G ACIA Plenary Meeting in Beijing
Jos Berière, leader of Program Line 3 - Leading Applications at FNS, delivered an important message at the 5G-ACIA Plenary Meeting, the global representative body of the industrial domain towards 3GPP. The meeting took place on September 18th -20th in Beijing, China.
Current industry constraints, such as legacy software and hardware limitations, hinder rapid continuous improvement. To overcome these challenges, 6G should enable direct connectivity to machine endpoints (sensors/actuators), enhancing setup flexibility of a machine module. Additionally, centralizing legacy software at the edge will support seamless software upgrades over the 15-year lifecycle of machine modules, eliminating dependency on various embedded software implementations.
Jos Berière: “Our collaborative efforts on the 6G Wireless Factory work package and live testbed, developed and managed by Cordis Suite, Royal KPN, Weidmüller, TU/e, TNO, and ASML, emphasize the importance of flexibility and modularity in meeting dynamic market demands and increasing productivity”
He continues: “While the industrial 5G market is lagging to its potential, the urgency to address the underlying issues are evident. At FNS, we believe that agile cross-industry and policy collaboration are crucial to achieving the global economies of scale required in this strategic domain.”
