Progress towards a scalable 6G platform

Gomibo Platforms, part of the Gomibo Group, plays a key role in the development of innovative telecom solutions. The company is a derivative of telecoms job provider Belsimpel, whose roots go back to a student room in Groningen. Since then, it has grown internationally under the Gomibo name into a leading company with 700 employees and operations in 27 European countries. This growth is based on a strong vision: to create scalable and future-proof platforms that support the telecoms sector in the transition to 6G.

From expertise to innovation
Over 17 years, Gomibo Platforms has developed a robust e-commerce platform, originally intended for internal use. This platform is now used by telecom companies and retailers to optimise processes and serve customers better. "We build everything in-house, from software to commercials," says Robbin Hof, responsible for privacy, compliance and technical development of the platform.
The platform stands out for its scalability and versatility. For instance, it offers solutions for subscriptions, IoT services and data security. "The system has been tested by millions of users and offers reliable functionality, fully in line with the AVG," adds Robbin.

Preparing for the future: 6G and IoT
To be ready for the capabilities of 6G, Gomibo Platforms' focus is on scalability and smart technology. "We are developing a platform that can handle large-scale IoT applications, such as processing 10,000 sensors in one order," Robbin said. APIs are also being developed to help telecom companies offer new services, from drone control to complex data integrations.

A multidisciplinary collaboration within FNS
Gomibo Group is a work package leader within the FNS programme. In this, Gomibo collaborates with partners such as Odido, Hansen Technologies and TNO. While Odido acts as a fictional customer and Hansen Technologies integrates the underlying systems, TNO provides expertise in the technical field.
These collaborations help develop standards and innovative solutions that move the industry forward. "The strength of this collaboration lies in knowledge sharing and the joint approach to technical challenges," Robbin explains.

Benefits of participating in FNS
Participation in the FNS programme brings several benefits. It offers Gomibo Platforms the opportunity to collaborate with key players in the industry, establish itself as an innovative partner and think strategically ahead about the requirements of 6G. It also contributes to Gomibo Platforms' visibility as a trusted SaaS player in the telecoms sector.

The challenge of international standards
Although platform development is progressing smoothly, 6G also brings uncertainties. Exactly what the technology will require remains unclear. Robbin emphasizes, "Setting international standards is crucial, and we are working intensively on that with partners worldwide."

Groningen as a talent hub
Gomibo Group has strong ties with the city of Groningen, where its headquarters are located. Despite the challenges of the tight labor market, the company manages to attract and retain talent through close cooperation with universities and colleges in the Northern Netherlands, among other things. Robbin says: "We sponsor student associations, organise guest lectures and offer internships to keep talent in Groningen. This, together with our open corporate culture, career opportunities and good facilities, makes us an attractive employer and even a certified Great Place to Work."

Building a scalable future
With an innovative approach and strong partnerships, Gomibo Platforms continues to build the future of the telecoms sector. "We are not just developing a platform, but working on the foundations of a connected world," concludes Robbin. "This is how we make our mission, Giving people easy access to the digital world, a reality."
