Where are you active within the FNS program (program line, work packages) and what is your contribution to it?

As a company we are participating in program line 1, where work package 1 (RF communication) and 4 (optical communication) have the majority of our interest, as it touches suitability of materials for these applications, as well as additional requirements like thermal management. As a producer of polymeric materials we are very much an upstream participant, and as such not a decision maker on the technology that will be developed. Through our participation and interaction we hope to understand material requirements, suggest materials for selection and further refine the performance of our offerings as this market is developing. We are also a participant in program line 4, where we will take part in discussions around the future requirements for skilled workforce and associated educational programs.

Why are you participating in the FNS program?

Understanding emerging trends and the associated material requirements is an ongoing effort which the SABIC Specialties business takes seriously. Participating in the FNS program is a way of connecting to academic institutes, thought leaders and partners in the value chain, where the project is creating a common goal towards demonstration of 6G communication and the diversity of participants gives the opportunity to discuss the design / material aspects from all angles.
