What is the name of your institution/company?
VTEC Lasers & Sensors
What products or services do you offer?
VTEC Lasers & Sensors delivers advanced products and services in the fields of photonics, sensor technology, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The company offers innovative solutions such as the Smart Multi-Sensor, MyAir Sensor, the Health Bundle, and the APMA System, focusing on monitoring, real-time data analysis, and environmental sensing.
In addition, VTEC provides specialized services including the development of Indium Phosphide (InP) photonic components, wafer processing for photonic circuits, precision packaging, and automated testing of photonic devices. These solutions are applied in sectors such as telecom, smart buildings, industry, environmental technology, and agriculture.
With over 40 years of innovation experience and strategic collaborations with institutions like TNO and Photon Delta, VTEC aims to deliver sustainable, high-quality technologies that enhance efficiency and connectivity.
Where are you active within the FNS program (program lines, work packages), and what is your contribution?
VTEC Lasers & Sensors is active in Program Line 1 (Intelligent Components), Work Package 1.4 (Optical-enabled wireless communications). Our contribution includes research and development of multipixel large-area high-speed detector array receivers and high-speed transmitters, within the context of integrating RF/Optical wireless communication interfaces primarily focused on indoor LiFi systems. These receiver and transmitter subsystems, equipped with tracking and alignment capabilities, aim to enable full-duplex wireless communication, forming the final segment toward the user within the synergy between RF- and optical-based communication networks.
Why do you participate in the FNS program?
VTEC Lasers & Sensors participates in the FNS program with the ambition to support the advancement of the Netherlands as a digitally connected and information-driven society. Emerging industrial and societal applications such as in-room communications, image-guided therapy, smart factories, and active e-sports require new technological foundations to ensure sustainable development.
VTEC contributes to this goal through its expertise, human resources (including co-supervision of an industrial PhD candidate within the FNS program), and its knowledge in photonics and IoT. VTEC’s role in the FNS program is aligned with its objective to grow alongside and in support of the country’s technological and societal progress.
