The vast and quiet environment of Northern Netherlands offers unique advantages for rural experiments. Whether it involves air, water, or road testing—such as drone experiments, autonomous boating, or driving—the region is ideal for innovative trials. ICCS specializes in positioning and sensor fusion applications, including autonomous driving solutions that do not rely on GPS.
What is the role of ICCS?
ICCS provides the Connectivity Lab at Zernike, a testing environment for entrepreneurs, researchers, and students. Innovations are tested using the available tools and technologies, with a focus on practical application and real-life scenarios. The lab facilitates both technical experiments and strategic guidance, and connects participants to a broad network of knowledge and ecosystem partners, such as Hanze, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, TNO, Eurofiber, Vodafone Ziggo, KPN, Economic Board Groningen, Provincie Drenthe, Gemeente Groningen and Provincie Fryslan.
The fieldlab consists of:
- A Connectivity Lab at Zernike: Equipped for hands-on experiments with 5G and 6G technologies;
- Testing Facilities: For air, water, and road experiments, such as drones, autonomous driving, and autonomous boating;
- Access to a Broad Network: Connections to universities, universities of applied sciences, and vocational schools in Northern Netherlands.
