Comforest
What is the name of your institution/company?
What products or services do you offer?
Comforest provides a holistic approach to making office buildings more sustainable by combining smart technology, measurements, and proven installation techniques. Their services and products focus on improving energy efficiency, indoor climate, and workplace comfort while contributing to overall sustainability.
In which areas of the FNS program (program lines, work packages) are you active, and what is your contribution?
Within the FNS program, we are the work package leader for Smart Grid/Smart Building (WP 3.3).
Why are you participating in the FNS program?
There is a major issue with grid congestion, and as electrification increases, we will need to manage supply and demand more intelligently, beyond simply laying more copper in the ground. Currently, there is little to no interaction between the energy network and its users.
At Comforest, we have already developed an integrated concept based on IoT and AI to make buildings smarter. The next step is to enable communication with a smart grid, which cannot rely on a building’s existing fiber-optic network.
Our goal is to identify the 6G requirements that will emerge from the energy transition by 2030, when smart grids will be scaled up.
