• Microchip R&D – Advanced research into next-generation chip technologies in collaboration with major technology companies.
• Collaboration & knowledge exchange – Partnerships with companies, governments, and universities to accelerate innovation.
• Start-up support – Through imec.istart and imec.xpand, tech start-ups receive funding, mentorship, and access to a broad network.

In which areas of the FNS program (program lines, work packages) are you active, and what is your contribution?

Imec is actively involved in three work packages within the program. Two of these packages (PL 1.2.2 and PL 1.2.6) focus on radio frequency (RF) communication and localization, where Imec contributes to both hardware and software development. The third work package focuses on optical localization systems (PL 1.4), a new area for Imec where opportunities are being explored to expand its expertise.

Why are you participating in the FNS program?

We participate in the FNS program because localization technology is a key part of this initiative. One of Imec’s core areas of expertise is developing technologies that enable high-precision tracking of objects and individuals. Localization plays a crucial role in various applications, from consumer electronics to industrial automation.
