What is the name of your organization/company?
TenneT TSO B.V.
What products or services do you offer?
TenneT is a leading European transmission system operator (TSO). We are committed to providing a safe and reliable electricity supply, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. At the same time, we actively drive the energy transition to achieve a sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy future.
As the first cross-border TSO, we design, build, maintain, and operate more than 25,000 kilometers of high-voltage connections in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany, facilitating the European energy market through 17 interconnectors with our neighboring countries.
With a turnover of €9.2 billion and total assets of €45 billion, we are one of the largest investors in national and international electricity grids, both onshore and offshore. Every day, more than 8,300 employees work with ownership, courage, and connection to meet society’s needs. Together, we ensure that over 43 million end users can rely on a stable electricity supply.
Lighting the way ahead together.
Where are you active within the FNS program (program lines, work packages), and what is your contribution?
TenneT participates in program line 3: Leading Applications. In the coming years, TenneT is working hard to expand, strengthen, and digitalize the high-voltage network. Our contribution focuses on providing use cases and sharing expertise for the application of wireless communication in measurement and control of the high-voltage grid.
Why are you participating in the FNS program?
Telecommunication is an essential component of the high-voltage network. By participating, TenneT expects to explore the application of 6G technology for sensors and systems in locations where wired connections are unavailable or not feasible due to high-voltage conditions. Through this initiative, TenneT aims to exchange knowledge with partners and stay informed about innovative telecommunication technologies and their potential applications.
