Innovation and connectivity at the BTG Event

Earlier this month, Peter Rake, program manager of the FNS program and Nico Nijenhuis, program director of TTT Smart Industry and work package leader within Future Network Services (FNS) presented at the BTG Event in Noordwijk. The program was entirely dedicated to inspiration, innovation and connectivity - themes that are also highly relevant to FNS.

Peter gives insight into the FNS program

Peter highlighted the FNS program and he discussed how FNS aims to innovate through three different impact pathways:

  • Strengthening existing networks: Leveraging the infrastructure already in place in the Netherlands.
  • Innovating towards new solutions: Developing advanced technologies that will shape the future of connectivity.
  • Creating synergies: Collaborating with the various consortium partners to ensure integrated solutions.

Peter also shared insights on the FNS partner ecosystem and collaboration within the program lines or work packages which are essential for achieving the objectives of FNS.  Specifically, of course, he also spoke about BTG's role as a partner within the FNS program.

Nico discusses Thematic Technology Transfer

Nico's presentation highlighted the need for collaboration on Thematic Technology Transfer (TTT). He introduced the TTT modus operandi, which aims to fill the gap for initiatives that are too early for venture capital but too advanced for research grants.

Key points from Nico's presentation were:

  • The need for access to knowledge, experience and networks to foster innovation.
  • The benefits of a collaborative approach to accelerate technological progress.
  • How TTT provides a structured path to commercial viability for promising projects.
