PL 2: AI driven 6G networks

Program Line 2 focuses on the development of AI-driven algorithms and software for the orchestration of 6G networks and the development of new applications. This will make networks safer, more reliable, more energy-efficient, and more economically attractive.

Early access to this technology provides a significant head start in the development of new 6G services and applications. Program Line 2 serves as a connecting link within Future Network Services, linking the semiconductor and radio innovations from Program Line 1 to the applications in Program Line 3.

Work package 2.1 - Requirements, Architecture & Integration

This work package develops an innovative and sustainable 6G architecture that integrates hardware, software, and services. This architecture forms the basis for the software and orchestration solutions of Program Line 2 and actively contributes to international standardization.

Through open architectures and standardized interfaces, Dutch companies can develop solutions that can be deployed worldwide, which increases export opportunities and contributes to a strong and sovereign European 6G market.

Work package 2.2 - 6G DevOps Platform & Digital Twin

This work package develops an AI-driven software environment for designing, testing, managing, and optimizing 6G functionalities and applications. Central to this are an open 6G DevOps platform for developers and a 6G Digital Twin for operators and network managers.

Through the use of AI, these solutions enable rapid innovation, lower costs, and greater reliability of 6G networks. In doing so, they lay the foundation for future-proof network management and new services.

Work package 2.3 - AI-assisted networking

This work package develops the “AI engine” of the 6G network: advanced algorithms and software modules that make networks self-learning, autonomous, and efficient. The focus is on AI and real-time decision-making, enabling networks to adapt dynamically to changing conditions.

This AI-driven approach forms the basis for smart network services and autonomous infrastructures. By making optimal use of network capacity, computing power, and data storage within the digital continuum, Dutch companies can strengthen their competitive position in the global 6G market.
